Welcome to the Gibson Tech Center Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program. I am pleased that you have chosen our EMT Program to begin your career in pre-hospital education and training. The entire faculty and staff join together in wishing you the best of luck as you work toward your goal of becoming a Missouri state and Nationally certified Emergency Medical Technician. I am committed to quality and excellence in pre-hospital education and training. Because you are now part of an “EMT Program‟, in a sense you are also now part of a family. I am ready and willing to lend assistance and advice while mentoring and helping you reach your goals, whatever they may be.

Virtual Learning

COVID-19 has created the potential for schools to unexpectedly be forced to teach in a virtual setting.  With that in mind, I will be using Google Classroom and Zoom as the main platforms for virtual learning, if the need arises.  Students will be required to complete all assignments on time and will be held accountable if they do not.  If a student has issues with technology, they must communicate the technical difficulty to the program teacher, Mrs. Thompson, Mr. Thieman or myself as soon as possible.  We will overcome all potential remote learning obstacles, but not without a line of communication.

Social Distancing and Masking

Everyone involved in the educational process plays a role in preventing the transmission of COVID-19.  With that in mind, students must also help minimize the spread of the virus by practicing social distancing in the classroom by sitting one at a table.  Gibson Technical Center will be requiring all individuals in the building to wear a mask when social distancing is not possible as determined by the classroom teacher. Students may be exempted from this procedure by the school administrator due to a documented medical condition of the student.
